Hello, Vertigo!

This is why I am on Meclizine. I am also on Sudol, in the hopes that my chronic sinus trouble is the reason behind the vertigo. I refused to get the Phenergan filled. It takes a lot for me to actually toss my cookies and the Meclizine has me groggy enough without the Phenergan, too. Follow up appointment in two weeks.

(The actual diagnosis is Acute L....whatever whatever. But it makes me dizzy!)

Acute Labyrinthitis is the actual name (assuming even I can spell it). After several years and eventually having a couple of thousands of dollars worth of tests (including 2 MRIs to rule out brain tumors) they determined I had Meniere's disease. Of course besides the dizziness (with rapid onset of symptoms) I also had some ringing in my left ear and some hearing loss. Meclizine and I became good friends. Rarely but occasionally I needed the phenergan to keep from "tossing my cookies." Kicking way back on the caffeine and salt really helped me. To this day they still swear it had nothing to do with sinuses or allergies, but I'm not totally convinced. Hope yours turns out to be treatable as supposedly mine is not.

ps: after a while I could take 3 of the meclizine tablets at one time without the drowsiness, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it

Hi Chet! I was hoping to hear from you! No wonder I was asked about a ringing in my ears..I hear what sounds like my pulse in my left ear, but no ringing...as for hearing loss, eh?

Salt I can eliminate. I'm a pepper person, anyway - but caffeine?! I need coffee to live! I have often considered an iv drip of the stuff.

Time will tell and naturally I'll keep everyone 'posted!' *giggle*
